Call for abstracts is now closed

The RCR abstract competitions spotlight trainee and consultant authors' innovative projects, allowing you to share your work with an audience of clinical radiologists, clinical oncologists and allied healthcare professionals in the UK and globally.

Abstract submissions for the RCR Annual Conference 2023 are now closed. Entrants will be notified on Monday 5 June 2023 if their abstract has been accepted. For inclusion in the abstract competition, one named author must book their place by Friday 23 June 2023.

RCR Abstracts


Each year we welcome abstracts covering a wide range of scientific and audit projects. Entries will be available to view in-person and online for all attendees. Trainees and consultants across both faculties are encouraged to submit for physical and ePoster displays in the following competitions:

Clinical Radiology George and Vera Ansell competition – abstracts should be submitted based on scientific research

Clinical Oncology Wormald competition – abstracts should be submitted based on scientific research

Clinical Radiology Audit ePoster competition – abstracts based on a piece of work in which local performance is assessed against a standard and will be entered for ePoster display only.

Authors in the scientific research categories may also be selected for oral presentation. 

Eligibility

All competitions are open to everyone, including RCR Fellows, members and all non-members giving more opportunities for colleagues around the world to share their work. 

Why submit a poster?

  • Showcase your innovative ideas, strategies and project outcomes
  • Demonstrate your key outcomes and approaches to improving patient care
  • Share your achievements among your peers and influence practice across the UK and globally
  • Communicate your organisations work and build your peer networks
  • Have your work published in the Clinical Radiology or Clinical Oncology Journals online supplements
  • Earn an additional three CPD credits as lead author and one CPD credit for each co-author

Submissions must be entered using the online abstract competition form. At least one of the named authors must register as a paying delegate at the RCR Annual Conference. Registration is now open – book now with our early bird rates available until Thursday 31 August 2023, 23:59 (BST), saving up to £70.

NEW for 2023
People's Choice Award

We are excited to introduce our new People's Choice Award. Physical poster displays will automatically be eligible, where the best poster will be voted for by your peers and colleagues who are attending the RCR Annual Conference in-person. This is a fantastic opportunity to further showcase your work and build your peer network. The winner of this award will be announced on our social media channels and on the RCR Annual Conference website post eventEntrants will also be eligible to win the People's Choice cash prize of £100.

Winner announcements

Dr Katharine Halliday, The RCR President, will announce the abstract competition winners on stage during the closing speech on day one, on Thursday 12 October 2023. Winners will be presented with a certificate and have the opportunity to have their photo taken with Dr Katharine Halliday. The People's Choice Award winner will be announced on our social media channels and on the RCR Annual Conference website post event.
